Call for volunteers to replace cemetery flags

Volunteers are needed to replace flags on veterans’ graves in Middleborough. The first of several events to commemorate Memorial Day will be held on May 4, or May 18 in the case of rain. Events begin at 7 a.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2188 on Station Street, with a free breakfast for all that attend. Volunteers will then move on from the VFW in groups to the various cemeteries around town, and finish up prior to lunch. Last year, Little League ball players, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and their families assisted other members of the community and veterans, said Middleborough’s Director of Veterans Services, Paul Provencher. To volunteer, call Provencher at 508-946-2407, or send an e-mail to pjpro2000@yahoo.com and label the subject line as “volunteering to help with cemetery flags.”
