GlobeSouth: Players of the Week, Top 10 boys’ and girls lacrosse teams

High 5

Seana Cofsky , Walpole: The Rebels lost three of their first four games but got back to .500 after their senior captain netted an even 10 points (7 goals, 3 assists) in wins over nonleague foes Canton (21-9) and Oliver Ames (17-3). She delivered a 5-goal, 3-assist effort against OA.

Jack Conte , Cohasset: At 5-foot-9 and 155 pounds, the junior goalie doesn’t take up a lot of the net, but in the Skippers’ last three contests — all wins — he has allowed only 2.3 goals per game, highlighted by a 19-save shutout of Hamilton-Wenham.

Ela Hazar , Westwood: The defending Division 1 state champions have continued their dominance in the early stages of 2013, and the junior has played a huge role in that: She put up six goals and two assists in a 19-3 win over Lincoln-Sudbury Tuesday before netting six more as the Wolverines handily beat Winchester, 19-4, four days later.

Hannah Murphy , Duxbury: With standout performances in victories over Westborough (3 goals, 4 assists) and Marshfield (3 goals, 3 assists), the senior captain has helped establish the Dragons’ spot atop the Patriot League standings.

Brooks Thomson , Thayer: The Scituate resident had a hand in most of the goals in a 14-5 triumph over Middlesex Saturday, finding the back of the net five times while adding four assists to inch the Tigers above .500 with their third straight win. Victories over Rivers (9-6, April 13) and Groton (13-10, April 17) are the others.

Game of the Week

Westwood girls vs. Notre Dame (Hingham), Tues, 6:30

This is a significant contest on a myriad of levels. Under coach Leslie Frank, Westwood has set the standard for girls’ lacrosse in the state, but NDA, under the direction of her daughter, Meredith, a former Wolverines’ star, is on the rise. Both squads, as expected, have plowed through early season competition. Westwood junior Ela Hazar and senior Marina Burke have helped the defending Division 1 state champs get it done so far, while All-American Alex Dalton has led NDA. This will be the teams’ first matchup since Westwood ousted Notre Dame in the South sectional semifinals, 18-8, last June. Tim Healey
