No decision on town manager pay

Selectmen have postponed a discussion of a pay increase for Town Manager Kevin Paicos after one board member said he wasn’t prepared to address the issue. The five-member board gave Paicos a “satisfactory” annual review two weeks ago and had shifted focus to whether a raise is warranted. But Selectman Mark Sullivan said at Tuesday’s selectmen’s meeting that he needed more time to gather his thoughts. Paicos had urged the board to act immediately in the event that Tuesday’s election changes the composition of the board. Chairman James DeVellis and fellow incumbent Lynda Walsh are seeking re-election, challenged by Advisory Committee member and former Chairman John Gray. But DeVellis said the sitting board reviewed Paicos’s performance before the election and has some leeway since the pay decision must be made by July 1.
