Although Town Administrator Richard LaFond is scheduled to become town manager of Abington on May 6, he could still play a part in Carver’s June 3 Town Meeting. LaFond, who had not submitted a letter of resignation to Carver’s selectmen as of last Tuesday, said he wants to negotiate an arrangement with officials of both towns that would allow him to help guide Carver through its annual Town Meeting. As for his new job, LaFond said the position of town manager offers more authority in some areas than town administrator, and he saw it as a “professional and financial opportunity.” He will have an annual salary of $140,000 a year.
