Town Meeting last week shot down local meals and hotel taxes on voice votes, approved a moratorium on medical marijuana facilities, and voted to change the rules governing qualifications for town manager. It was the third time that Cohasset has rejected the local option of adding an 0.75 percent tax to restaurant meals and 6 percent tax to hotel rooms, according to the town clerk’s office. Town Meeting voted, 223 to 141, on Monday to change the town manager rules, barring only people who had been a selectman within the past 15 months from the job. The previous regulations disqualified anyone who had been on an elected or appointed board within the last year. The changes now go to the state Legislature for approval.
