Town clerk to hold Shred-It Day

To combat identity theft and fraud, the town clerk’s office will hold its second annual Shred-It Day next Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon. A document-shredding company will be on location at Town Hall, and items will be destroyed for residents at no charge, with a limit of two standard bankers boxes. The Federal Trade Commission urges people to thwart identity theft by shredding charge receipts, copies of credit applications, insurance forms, medical statements, checks, bank statements, old utility or credit card bills, expired charge cards, and pre-approved credit offers. Paper, floppy disks, and CDs can be shredded; staples and paper clips may remain in place, but paper should be removed from binders or notebooks. For more information, contact the office of the town clerk at 508-230-0530.
