Duxbury resident co-chairs benefit for Greater Boston PFLAG

Duxbury resident Holly Safford, founder and president of Hingham-based The Catered Affair, recently co-chaired a benefit for Greater Boston PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays).

Safford (inset), who has three sons, two of them gay, co-chaired the event with Cambridge’s Joan Parker, wife of the late Robert B. Parker. The “Step Up! Stop the Bullying and Make It Better NOW” benefit was held Thursday in the Kelleher Rose Garden in the Back Bay Fens and expected to draw more than 700 attendees. Proceeds from the party go toward Greater Boston PFLAG’s bullying prevention, family support, and education programs.
