Tea, a book and me: Independence Associates Inc. of downtown Brockton will host the Brockton Library Foundation on Thursday, from 1 to 4 p.m., for a free “pop up” gallery exhibit of Haitian Artists in conjunction with Brockton Arts, Inc. Author visit: Dr. Nick Trout, author of the novel “The Patron Saint of Lost Dogs” will visit the Duxbury Free Library Thursday at 7 p.m. for a reading and a book signing as part of Westwinds Bookshop and The Duxbury Free Library Night Light series. Candy Land Day: Join the Children’s Museum in Easton for Candy Land Day on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Crafts and activities inspired by the Candy Land game will be offered throughout the day. Arts festival: North River Arts Society will celebrate the 37th annual Festival of the Arts on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Village of Marshfield Hills (Old Main Street). The free two-day festival will offer juried art, sculpture, and photography exhibits; a juried artisans’ sale; an arts sale; the work of local artists; a children’s tent, and a food tent. WEST BRIDGEWATER

Herb and plant sale: The Old Bridgewater Historical Society will hold its annual herb and plant sale Saturday, (rain or shine) at 8 a.m. on the grounds of the Keith Parsonage House. Come for annuals, perennials, shrubs, heirloom vegetables, potted containers, and members’ garden specimens.
