A popular pathway in town is one step closer to being expanded by nearly a mile — from Norwell Middle School to the center of town. Town meeting members last Monday voted in favor of appropriating $300,000 from the Community Preservation Fund to have design and easement plans drafted for the project. Money for construction would have to be funded at a future town meeting or special town meeting. “This is a matter of safety, as well as convenience,” said Town Administrator Jim Boudreau. “There are very few sidewalks in this town, and this is a way to connect the different parts of town for people walking or riding bikes.” The first stretch of the pathway, from the middle school to the high school, is nearly complete, he said.
