Tina Balzotti , Duxbury: The senior racked up 17 points (10 goals, seven assists) en route to another Division 2 South sectional semifinals trip for the Dragons, who bounced Cohasset (20-8) and Apponequet Regional (19-7) in the first round and quarterfinals, respectively. Tommy Bannan , Hingham: After limiting Saugus to a pair of goals in a 21-2 preliminary-round win, the senior goalkeeper made 15 saves for the top-seeded Harbormen in a 13-6 win against No. 17 Foxborough in the Division 2 East sectional first round Friday. The Hingham defense is limiting opposing teams to fewer than five goals per game.

Sam Friedman , BC High: Goliath finally fell Friday, and the sophomore midfielder struck for the final blow. The Eagles, powered in part by the Abington resident’s hat trick and game-winning goal, beat Duxbury, 10-9, in overtime in the first round of the Division 1 state tournament. The upset ended the Dragons’ run of 11 consecutive state championship appearances, nine of which they won.

Mary O’Connell , Notre Dame (Hingham): The Cougars’ all-time leading assister continued her torrid pace in the Division 2 South sectional, collecting two goals and 10 assists against Hanover (16-3 win) in the first round, then five goals and three helpers vs. Medfield (15-6 win) in the second.

Steve Righini , Archbishop Williams: A combined 14 goals in a first-round win over Upper Cape Cod (22-2) and second-round triumph over Newburyport (8-7) from the junior attack landed the Bishops in the Division 3 quarterfinals. The Weymouth resident netted a season-high 10 tallies to go with his lone assist against the Rams.
