Behind every family, there’s a story


Fred Ayers calls his wife, Betty, “the real power in the family.” She was a pediatric nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital while he was in surgical training, later working for him part time when their four children were older. She now helps with the day care of her two youngest grandchildren.



The basketball court at Wareham High School is named for Jim Brogioli, longtime boys’ basketball coach there, where his son, Kevin Brogioli, is now the head coach.

Jack Conway was noted for reading several newspapers a day, something daughter Carol Conway Bulman did online, which she said “drove him crazy — he loved having the papers in his hands.”



George Washington Toma often appears in the family business’s TV commercials dressed in General George Washington regalia. He was born on Washington’s birthday.
