Cody Braga , Middleborough: Before he collected an RBI single during a big fifth inning in the Sachems’ 10-1 win over Whittier Tech in the Division 3 state semifinals, the sophomore catcher went 2 for 3 with three RBIs in the South final, a 6-1 triumph against Abington. His two-run double in the second gave Middleborough what ended up being a permanent lead.

Mike Bruemmel , Bridgewater-Raynham: Without his gutsy 7 innings of three-run ball in a 4-3 win over Boston College High to nab the Division 1 South crown, the Trojans would not have made it to the state title game. The senior southpaw struck out eight in a performance that inspired awe in sophomore pitcher Jack Connolly. “That was unreal,” Connolly said.

John Carlson , Hingham: The lefthander had a key two-out, three-run double in the first inning and struck out eight in his complete game win to clinch the Division 2 South title, 7-4, over Stoughton, then drove in the eventual game-winning run to help the Harbormen beat Masconomet, 2-1, in the EMass final.

Billy Mitchell , Boston College High: Despite not even being in the starting lineup for the Division 1 South final, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound Walpole resident almost single-handedly extended the Eagles’ season by going 2 for 2 with two RBIs, a run scored, and a stolen base in an eventual 4-3 loss to Bridgewater-Raynham. He ripped a pinch-hit double down the left field line and came around to score in the sixth, then tied it up with a single to center in the eighth.

Emily Kurkul , Bridgewater-Raynham: When the Trojans were stymied by an opposing pitcher for the first time all season — in back-to-back games, no less — the sophomore catcher helped them make the most of it. Her sharp single to center in the bottom of the ninth gave B-R a walk-off 2-1 win over Maddie Barone and Silver Lake in the Division 1 South sectional semis. While B-R (23-1) fell to Milford, 7-0, in the finals, Kurkul finished the season third on the team with a .481 average and 18 RBIs.
