GlobeSouth: Top 10 boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams

HIGH 5

David Freitas , Hingham: Although they eventually fell to Medfield, 11-10 in overtime, in the Division 2 East sectional final, the Harbormen kept fighting till the end, and their senior attack was no exception. He recorded hat tricks in each of Hingham’s final two games, which included an 8-4 win over Beverly in the East semifinal.

Kara Hurley , Plymouth South: The Panthers haven’t played in weeks, having failed to qualify for the postseason, but their senior captain served as a bright spot in an overall down season. She finished with 91 points (76 goals, 15 assists), tops in the Atlantic Coast League.

Isabella O’Connor , Notre Dame (Hingham): Even as the Cougars say so long to two-time All-American Alex Dalton, the junior attack from Plymouth is helping quell any fears about any sort of let-down next season. The All-American and University of Florida commit tallied five points (four goals, one assist) to help NDA to a 13-10 victory over Longmeadow to claim the program’s first Division 1 state crown.

Jack Wheeler , Xaverian: The junior midfielder capped his breakout season with a game-high four goals, two in each half, as the Hawks toppled top-seeded Lincoln-Sudbury, 9-5, in the Division 1 state championship game. The Boston University commit is one of a number of key players who will return to Xaverian for their title defense next season.

Nick Tangherlini, Colin Whelan, and Cole Kissick , Cohasset: The threesome, which has powered a balanced Skipper offense all spring, combined for six goals (two apiece) as Cohasset fell to Dover-Sherborn, 12-10, in the Division 3 state final. Whelan, a junior, and Kissick, a sophomore, will return to the Skippers next year.
