The ninth season of free summertime concerts at the Catherine and Joseph Nisby Bandstand kicks off Sunday at 6 p.m. with Dalton & the Sheriffs, sponsored by the Abington Firefighters Union Local 2080. Brian Scully of Abington heads the band and writes some of its music. One of the firefighters discovered the band at the House of Blues when he went to see another band perform, according to organizers. The concerts are every Sunday through Aug. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m., in addition to one Wednesday, July 17, at 7 p.m., featuring the Abington Community Band with the Abington Town Choir. The bandstand is next to the public library. In the case of rain, concerts will be held in the Abington Senior Center, 441 Summer St.
