The town’s longtime building inspector and health agent, who at a couple of public meetings earlier this year was accused by several business owners and residents of unfair treatment, is retiring. Paul Bourgeois’s last day in the office was June 28, but he will use his accrued vacation time and officially retire on Aug. 4. After repeated complaints, selectmen hired a private investigator to look into the situation. The board issued a statement saying the investigation into the various complaints filed with selectmen will not be pursued and that no further comment will be made on the matter, other than to say that the search for a replacement “will start immediately.” Bourgeois worked for the town for more than 20 years.
