Hanover

New parks and rec group seeking members

A group has been formed to raise money for projects of the Hanover Parks and Recreation Department. The organization, to be called the Friends of Hanover Parks and Recreation, is seeking members and has already launched its first initiative: selling personalized, inscribed bricks to be placed around the flagpole at Forge Pond Park. The group’s founder, April Manupelli, who is a member of the Parks and Recreation Committee, said the money raised in the first project will be used for a scoreboard, benches, and other items for Forge Pond Park. “Hanover Parks and Recreation is self-funded, so there isn’t any extra,” Manupelli said. “We hope our ‘Leave Your Mark at Forge Pond Park’ initiative will get the ball rolling and generate interest and community involvement. This park is not just for athletes; it’s for everyone.” For more information, e-mail Manupelli at a fore@comcast.net.
