Project manager hired for street expansion

Selectmen have agreed to hire Daedalus Projects of Boston to serve as project manager of the proposed renovation and expansion of the Main Street police station. Daedalus edged out Pombo Associates of East Bridgewater and PMA Consultants of Braintree, which ranked second and third, respectively, out of 10 firms that submitted proposals for the $10 million-plus project. Annual Town Meeting voters agreed to borrow $600,000 for preliminary work for the project, which will add a two-story addition and bring the rest of the building, a former grocery and foundry, up to code. Approval for the project as a whole comes before Town Meeting next spring.
