Carver police and emergency personnel helped save the life of a 47-year-old man who was unconscious when beachgoers pulled him out of the water at Sampson’s Pond on July 4. According to police, Paul Dion of Carver and a Worcester resident began performing CPR on the victim, with assistance from off-duty nurse Jennifer Costello of Wareham. After receiving a 911 call, Carver’s Emergency Medical Services, police, and fire officers raced to the scene, and Deputy Fire Chief Eric Germaine brought a defibrillator. The victim, a Boston resident visiting friends in Middleborough, was taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, then transported by MedFlight to another hospital, where was in stable condition.
