Town clerk goes south

Former Stoughton town clerk Cheryl Mooney on Monday will begin work in her new position as town clerk of Temple Terrace, Fla., a city of about 25,000 just outside Tampa. The Temple Terrace City Council voted 5-0 on June 18 to approve Mooney’s $65,000-a-year contract. In her four years as clerk in Stoughton, Mooney was credited with improving her department in many ways, including prompt online posting of Town Meeting minutes and election results. In the past 17 months, there have been six elections. Mooney, 51, could not be reached for comment, but told the Tampa Tribune she had hoped to someday live in Florida, after having visited there for several years.
