Bands’ homecoming at the lake

The Sharon Bands, which perform outdoor concerts around the region each summer, will conclude their 25th anniversary season Aug. 4 in a homecoming show at the bandstand at Memorial Park Beach, on Lake Massapoag in Sharon. The 7 p.m. performance is free, and the bands plan to dish out free ice cream, thanks to a donation from the Sharon Recreation Department, band spokesman Glenn McGibbon said. Two ensembles, the Sharon Concert Band and Roy Scott Big Band, comprise the Sharon Bands. The concert band will perform contemporary tributes to Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, and Michael Bublé; well-known marches and patriotic songs; and selections from a variety of other artists. The big band will play jazz, swing, and funk hits.
