Planning has begun for a celebration to mark the town’s 250th anniversary in 2015, according to Walter “Joe” Roach, chairman of the Board of Selectmen. The selectmen’s office is collecting names of volunteers for an anniversary committee, and volunteers will be interviewed and appointed by the board. “I would assume we’re going to have a good-size parade and things like that,” he said, but the planning is still in the very early stages. Previously part of Stoughton, Sharon was incorporated as a separate town, called Stoughtonham, in 1765. Its name was changed to Sharon in 1783.
