Concession stand redesigned

A concession stand for the Hingham High School athletic fields can finally move forward after school officials redesigned the project and put it out to bid again. After an earlier round of bids came in too high, officials reduced the size and removed the insulation and heat necessary for a four-season building. School Committee members voted on Monday to accept the second-lowest bid for the project, disqualifying the lowest because it was incomplete. Work is expected to start on the $611,000 project once a formal contract is in place. Superintendent Dorothy Galo also noted that “field construction is ongoing, although the very heavy rains of late do present some additional challenges.” Galo added that private fund-raising continues, “and we all are very grateful for the generosity of so many individual citizens.”
