The cost of keeping cool

The Building Projects Committee is evaluating proposals for installing air conditioning and ventilation systems at the 100-year-old-plus town hall, and as temperatures have risen this summer, so has the anticipated cost of the project. Town Administrator Frank Lynam said the estimates for the work have come in at least $200,000 higher than expected. “We did the feasibility study a month ago,” said Lynam, who said that study showed the cost would be between $400,00 and $500,000. He said it is likely that residents may be asked to approve the difference at a special Town Meeting on Aug. 26.
