Selectmen hired Erik Bailey, 27, and Colin Ryle, 30, to fill two open positions in the 32-member Fire Department. They were chosen from 28 applicants. Bailey, who is not related to Chief Timothy F. Bailey Jr., lives in Salem and is a state-certified paramedic who worked with Cataldo Ambulance Service, the chief said. He said Ryle, a Walpole resident, also is a state-certified medic and worked with EasCare Ambulance. Bailey started work last week and Ryle will start on Aug. 12.
