Assistant Town Administrator Nancy Howlett, who served as acting town administrator for over a year while continuing to do the assistant’s job, received a certification of appreciation from selectmen last week. The five-member Board of Selectmen was joined by former Chairman Joe Casna in presenting the certificate thanking Howlett for ably performing two jobs. She became the acting town administrator after former Administrator Jim Thomas resigned under pressure in May 2012. The town recently hired a new town administrator, Plainville attorney Robert Fennessy, who took over on Aug. 1. Howlett will continue to work for the town administrator and the Board of Selectmen as assistant town administrator.
