The Market at The Pinehills has been named the first “Healthy Market” in a program run by the state Department of Public Health, Jordan Hospital, and Healthy Plymouth, a collaboration of the hospital, town, and schools. The Mass in Motion Healthy Market Program is a statewide initiative to make healthy, affordable food available at grocery and convenience stores. On Monday at 11 a.m., the public is welcome to celebrate the launch of this program at the market, which is located at 6 Purchase St. Marcia Richards, a Jordan Hospital dietitian who is Healthy Plymouth’s nutrition facilitator, will spend this weekend placing “Healthy Market” on items in the store. She also is reviewing 18 other businesses that may be candidates to earn Healthy Market recognition. Plymouth stores that want to participate should contact her at 508-732-8983 or mrichards@jordanhospital.org.
