The Board of Selectmen recently appointed Brandon Prinzo and Ricardo Sousa to serve as dispatchers in the Communications Department, which runs Norton’s emergency dispatch center. One of the positions had been vacant for several years, and the other recently became open when a dispatcher left to join the Air Force, according to Charlene Fisk, director of the department. She said once the two new employees have completed their training, the department will have returned to its historic full staffing level, which provides for two dispatchers on each shift. Currently, there is only one dispatcher on the 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift. The budget for the new fiscal year provided funds to fill the long-vacant position. Selectmen, meanwhile, hired Jared Ferrara to serve as a driver/laborer in the Highway Department.
