Train parking passes available

Residents’ quarterly parking passes for the Sharon commuter rail station go on sale Sept. 12 at 10 a.m., and will be available online only. Passes sell out fast. The cost is $100 for Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, compared with the daily rate of $4 paid by nonresidents and residents without passes. A link to purchase passes will be posted on the town website, www.townofsharon.net/. This year, the town installed electronic payment kiosks in the daily parking lots. One goal of the change was to combat fraud. The previous system asked users to stuff dollar bills into a slot that corresponded with the parking spot; some people would wrap a dollar around something else to make the slot appear full.
