West Nile Virus found in mosquito pool

West Nile Virus was found in a Randolph mosquito pool last week, which indicates the virus is circulating within the local mosquito population, according to the Randolph Board of Health. The virus can be transmitted to humans by mosquito bites, though no human infections have been reported this year. The Board of Health encourages residents to follow recommendations by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, including using mosquito repellents containing DEET and removing standing water near homes, gutters, bird baths, and swimming pools.
