The Highway Department and the Great American Rain Barrel Co. of Hyde Park are teaming up to offer rain barrels at a discount price, as part of a communitywide water conservation program. Residents can connect the barrels to their downspouts, and by collecting and reusing rainwater, they can reduce their use of town water. This saves the homeowner money and helps the town manage its water supply, officials said. Raynham is offering the barrels, which are recycled from 60-gallon shipping drums, at $65 apiece, compared with the retail price of $119. The deadline to order a barrel is Sept. 28. To purchase one, go to www.greatamericanrainbarrel.com, look for “shop local programs” in the left side bar, and find “Raynham.” For more information, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 800-251-2352. Barrels will be available for pickup Oct. 7 to 11 at the Highway Department office.
