Pembroke town at sunset

Pembroke artist Becky Haletky has completed her latest watercolor painting of the town, as part of a series commissioned by the Cultural Council. Haletky has painted about a dozen of the watercolors over eight years, depicting various locations or events in Pembroke history. All of the paintings are displayed in Town Hall. The latest painting, “Pembroke Sunset,” shows the horse farm at the intersection of Washington and Pleasant streets, said Linda McCollum, chairwoman of the council. The council several years ago had prints made of many of the paintings in Haletky’s series, and some are available for sale at the library. Through last year, the revenue from the print sales went towards the town’s 300th anniversary celebration held in 2012. From now on, it will be used for the council’s grants for cultural programs.
