The town is one step closer to creating an 87-acre conservation area for hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, and other outdoor activities. After a year’s delay due to legal entanglements, the town has purchased Churchill Park, a 10-acre parcel of land on Main Street that will be used as a park and provide access to Cato’s Ridge, the 77 acres of town-owned land on Ring Road. The $20,000 for the Churchill Park purchase was appropriated at last year’s annual town meeting. Linda Leddy, a member of the town’s Conservation Commission and Open Space Committee, said the two parcels will be connected by a 600-foot boardwalk. Fund-raising for the boardwalk will begin soon, she said. “We’re excited that this project is moving forward and will hopefully be completed by the spring,” she said. “This is a place that will be enjoyed by Plympton residents for many years to come.”
