Road job application approved

The state transportation department has approved the town’s application for a $3.75 million road improvement project at Mattapoisett Village. According to Town Administrator Michael Gagne, the state found the project eligible for federal funding, and the final decision to fund it will come from the Southeast Massachusetts Metropolitan Planning Organization. The town now will do preliminary survey and design work for the project. The area’s roads lack drainage, Gagne said, and the sidewalks there “are a hodgepodge of noncompliance. It’s time to do this.”
