Raynham

New planner in town

John Charbonneau, recently named director of planning and development by the Board of Selectmen, began work on Aug. 26. He succeeds Marilyn Whalley, who retired last December. A resident of Woonsocket, R.I., Charbonneau brings 15 years of experience as a municipal planner, mostly recently as town planner for Wareham and Rochester. “I’m thrilled to be here,” Charbonneau said, noting that he is the latest Wareham official — including Whalley — who has gone on to work for Raynham. “The people I’ve spoken to about Raynham have nothing but nice things to say about the town. It seems to be a really good town to work for. There’s a lot of continuity in town, a lot of stability,” he said. “That’s something that is rare to find in a lot of municipalities.”
