Petition supports acting police chief

A group of citizens plans to present a petition to selectmen Tuesday urging the board to support the appointment of acting Police Chief William Quigley to the permanent position. Former Selectman Chair Paul Carlson said he and others started an online and paper petition drive because they felt “Quigley was not getting a fair shot, and he’s the obvious man for the job.” Quigley has been acting chief since May of 2012. Acting Town Manager Michael Milanoski has said he will appoint Quigley this month, despite instructions from the board to wait until selectmen name a permanent town manager.
