Residents invited to see proposed flood map

Residents and business owners from Duxbury, Kingston, and Plymouth are encouraged to attend a FEMA flood map workshop on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Tarkiln Community Center, 245 Summer St. in Duxbury, to learn about the proposed new flood maps and how to protect against extensive flood damage. Property owners are invited to come between 5 and 7 p.m. to get help locating their properties on the proposed flood maps and stay from 7 to 8 p.m. for a presentation and question-and-answer session with town officials and regional FEMA representatives. Property owners can submit appeals and comments related to the preliminary map’s accuracy while the public comment period is underway. Once the map becomes effective, any related new insurance will take effect. Residents may visit or call 1-888-379-9531 for more information on flood insurance.
