Hingham artist returns to South Street

Local artist Paul Arsenault will return to the South Street Gallery next weekend for his second show in 10 years, with both a gallery exhibit and a book signing. “I feel like we should have a good crowd,” said gallery manager Kate Sotolova. “He comes from Hingham and I remember 10 years ago when we had his [other] show, many people were so happy to see him . . . I hope it will be the same.” Arsenault won the Frank Vining Smith Award at the age of 16, and since then, his style has evolved to focus on maritime harbors, coastal communities, and travel to exotic lands. The gallery exhibit will feature scenes from the South Shore, Hingham, and Boston, and will open Saturday and run through Oct. 28. A reception for his new book, “My Journey as a Painter,” will take place Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.
