Student artists can vie for State House showing

High school students from Duxbury, Hanson, and Pembroke have until Oct. 18 to submit an entry if they would like to have their artwork on display in historic Doric Hall at the State House. Entry forms are available for download on Representative Josh Cutler’s website ( Any high school-aged student living in those three towns can enter as many as three original works completed within the past year. There is no fee to enter and the categories are photography, paintings, drawing and pastels, and mixed media. There will also be an award for Best in Show. A panel of artists from the three towns will judge the works. The winners will be displayed during the week of Nov. 4, with a opening reception from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the State House. Works will also be displayed on Cutler’s website, and first place winners will have the option of having their works displayed in Cutler’s State House office for this academic year.
