Town, former officer may settle

The town and former police officer Joyce Graf are working to finalize a resolution of Graf’s gender-discrimination complaint against the town, according to Keith A. Healey, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. In the complaint filed in 2009, Graf, now 56, claimed she was pushed into early retirement because of her sex, disability from a back injury, and for filing an MCAD complaint in 2006. The commission last year found a lack of probable cause in the 2009 complaint, but in March, Graf successfully appealed that decision. According to Healey, the 2009 complaint has entered the conciliation phase.
