Park plan seeks funding

A committee working on a plan to reuse the former Sacred Heart school property will seek Community Preservation Committee funds for a park after receiving the selectmen’s blessing Sept. 19. The Board of Selectmen voted to recommend a budget of $70,245 to create nine new parking spots and an open field with a sprinkler system on the town-owned land. Karen Friedman, chairwoman of the Sacred Heart Reuse Committee, said her board would apply to the Community Preservation Committee for the money. If it wins approval there, the funding would still need an affirmative vote by Town Meeting. “I think we’re hopefully close to the end of the process,” she said.
