Board reviewing zoning bylaws

The Mattapoisett Planning Board has received a grant from the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District to conduct a review of the town’s zoning bylaws. Board member Ron Merlo said the review is “not an intent to rewrite or add to the bylaws; it’s just a general review to let townspeople comment on them and air any concerns they may have.” The reviews will be done in stages, he said, with the first coming Monday in the Town Hall conference room starting at 7 p.m., when the town’s sign and parking regulations will be reviewed. According to the town’s website, the process will be done over the coming year and findings will be reviewed by the planning board to determine if any changes are warranted. Changes would have to be voted on at town meeting, Merlo said.
