The Middleborough Public Library will hold its own version of PBS’s popular “Antiques Roadshow” Oct. 20, when John White and Kathryn Black of White’s Auctions will be on hand to give verbal appraisals of heirlooms and other potentially valuable antiques. Librarian Danielle Bowker is urging residents and others to bring furniture, paintings, porcelain and glassware, tools, and toys to the fund-raising event that begins at noon in the lower level meeting room. Donation is $5 per item with a two-item limit per trip, but those who have more treasures can get back in line. There is an elevator for heavy items and a couple of flat hand-trucks, but participants are also urged to bring their own wheels, if necessary. Onlookers are welcome to attend and observe. Proceeds directly support the library’s programs and services and its Friends group will also be on hand to answer questions about membership and provide refreshments. The event is open to residents of Middleborough and all of Southeastern Massachusetts. And football fans fear not, Bowker said: the Patriots/Jets game that day will be broadcast on the library’s main floor TV at 1 p.m.
