Parking tickets up around Cohasset Common

Police are cracking down on illegal parking around Cohasset Common and handing out tickets, according to Acting Chief William Quigley. The enforcement action comes at the direction of the Board of Selectmen, after member Martha Gjesteby complained that parked cars were creating a safety hazard by blocking sidewalks and traffic. Quigley said inadequate parking near the town’s senior center is partly to blame. “We’re trying to figure out a solution that works for everybody,” he said. ”We’ve had several complaints about people getting tickets. We try to use prevention and education, but at the end of the day you have to enforce the law.”
