Republican needed

The town is seeking a local Republican to fill a vacant seat on the Board of Registrars of Voters. The vacancy was created by the recent resignation of Harry Tahair, a longtime member. The board, which oversees town elections, consists of the town clerk and three members appointed by selectmen. Under state law, boards must as nearly as possible represent the two major parties, and there cannot be more than two Democrats or more than two Republicans serving at any one time. With the resignation of Tahair, a Republican, there are currently two Democrats – John Montagno and Kathleen Roberts, and one unenrolled – town clerk Marsha Silvia. Any Republican who would like to apply for the position is asked to contact the Board of Selectmen.
