Selectmen eye economic council


Selectmen on Tuesday are set to take up the establishment of an Economic Development Council to help figure out how to attract new business and industrial development to town. “I’d like to put some heads together to see if we can come up with some ways to market Whitman and invite” some small industries to move here, said Town Administrator Frank Lynam. Lynam said the town is well-positioned to attract some light industry and business with its proximity to rail and ability to offer tax incentives as a Massachusetts Economic Target Area.
