Town meeting discussion

Selectmen are scheduled to discuss whether to change the date of a fall special Town Meeting at their session Tuesday evening. The board recently called the special meeting for Oct. 28 to deal with accounting issues, but now faces several major requests to get other proposals before the town. The Town Building Study Committee sent the board a draft of its proposal for a new town central fire station building. And the new police chief, Marc Duphily, recently told the board his department needs more officers, including a sergeant to take his former position, a school resources officer for scecurity reasons, and more officers to combat drug-involved crime. Selectmen said any new expeditures would present a funding challenge. The board meets at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.
