Hull

Museum wants profiles in courage

The Hull Lifesaving Museum is looking for 125 stories of courage to include in a 2014 exhibit related to the 125th anniversary of the construction of the Point Allerton US Lifesaving Station, where the museum is located. The exhibit will include accounts of heroic rescues, but also stories of “smaller daily acts of courage” in the community, according to curator Victoria Stevens. “We hope it will prompt a discussion of what courage means,” she said in a telephone interview. “In addition to preserving artifacts, the museum’s underlying philosophy always has been to preserve the skills, courage, and caring of the lifesavers, and the idea that [their] stories can inspire us all to courage in our daily lives.” Further information is available by e-mailing info@hulllifesavingmuseum.org or calling 781-952-5433.
