Police officer honored for work in Marathon bombing

Dedham Police Officer Robert Chermesino accepted a commendation from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Transit Police for his work related to the Boston Marathon bombings. Chermesino delivered blood supplies to Mount Auburn Hospital, which were crucial to the survival of Transit Police Officer Richard Donohue. Donohue was shot in Watertown during a police confrontation with the suspects days after the bombings. Chermesino was sworn in as a Dedham officer in April 2011.
