Pumpkins in the park

Glowing jack-o-lanterns will line the field and paths at Bird Park on Oct. 26 for the annual Pumpkins in the Park celebration. The public is invited to bring carved and candle-lit pumpkins to the park at 5:30 p.m. to take part in the display. Guest judges will award prizes for the scariest, funniest, most unusual, most creative, and most traditional creations — and give a prize for the best entry by an adult. The free event also will feature ghost stories, games, and Halloween treats. Costumes are encouraged. More information is available by calling the Bird Park office at 508-668-6136 or by e-mailing
