Superintendent holds public forums


School Superintendent Kathleen A. Smith will hold a series of public forums to gather input and perspective on the Brockton public schools. The forums are intended to help Smith assemble an entry plan and five-year strategy plan for the 17,300-student district. “It is very important that all voices are heard as we chart our direction for the next several years,’’ Smith said. Sessions are planned on successive Wednesday evenings: this Wednesday at South Middle School; Oct. 23 at East Middle School; and Oct. 30 at West Middle School. Portuguese translators will be on hand at the Oct. 23 meeting. Smith met with French-speaking parents at an Oct. 10 Parents’ Academy Forum at the Baker School, and will host Spanish-speaking parents at the Oct. 15 Parents’ Academy Forum at the George School.
